HARMLESS project on tour in Austria: Networking Day & FemtoMat

On February 26th, in the morning hours, the TU Wien organized a collaboration day to create synergies between different disciplines and communities. More than 40 participants participated and could learn about the Disaster Competence Network Austria (DCNA), the Heritage Science Austria, the EIT Health as well as EIT Culture & Creativity, the RISC-V-network and last but not least about BioNanoNet.

Andreas Falk (BNN) presented the association and its technology platforms and could raise awareness about HARMLESS project, which is a great example for cross-sectorial collaboration, as well as the implementation of SSbD, highlighting the recently published paper of BNN.

The FemtoMat Conference (24.-27.02.2025, Mautendorf, Austria) is a topical conference devoted exclusively to the present status and application of femtosecond lasers in materials science: Basic aspects and manufacturing, electronic, sensor, optoelectronic and biomedical applications, nanoscience, etc.

This was a perfect opportunity to bring in a complementary talk around „The Advanced Materials ecosystem – enabling synergies with cross-sectorial collaboration“, and along that lines, highlighting once more the high potential of SSbD-implementation to be the glue between specifically focussed science and R&D&I work. Andreas Falk presented the HARMLESS project and BNN’s SSbD-work, which both already includes a connection between „nano“ and the „Advanced/innovative materials“ world. This connection is facilitated by BNN on regional/national level (ATIMA) and international level (InnoMatSyn), which were highlighted by Alexander Pogany (BMK) as very important initiatives in the AdMa-ecosystem in his presentation about „Austrian R&D-policy in Advanced Materials“.

The FemtoMat Conference, perfectly organized by the ESG-Nano team, was a great event with more than 30 lectures, great scientific posters and approximately 100 participants. Looking forward to its next edition from Feb. 22nd – 26th, 2027. See you again in Mauterndorf!
