Case study on an environmental friendly alternative for plant protection

CEA is the French atomic and alternative energy commission (Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives). It is a public body established in October 1945. The CEA is active in three main fields: energy, information and health technologies, defence and national security. In each of these fields, CEA maintains a cross-disciplinary culture of engineers and researchers, building on the synergies between fundamental and technological research. CEA has a workforce of around 15.000 employees.

CEA participates to the project with the teams of NIMBE (Nanoscience and Innovation for Materials, Biomedicine and Energy). NIMBE is located in Saclay (Paris area) and it is part of the Fundamental Research Division (DRF) of CEA. NIMBE consists of 7 teams which develop research activities in chemistry and physico-chemistry mainly focused on the design, the shaping and the analysis of functional materials at the micro and nanoscale (with a major part dedicated to the latter), as well as the understanding of physicochemical mechanisms and their synergies.

Main activities within HARMLESS:

Synthesis of advanced nanostructured functional composites materials, in particular imogolites based ones, and their physical/chemical characterization
